Schools Phasing Out Cursive

menstrom:

It’s about damn time. I never understood why such emphasis was put on an arcane form of penmanship. They may as well teach architectural lettering… at least it is legible. (via thedw)
About goddam time. The one thing I loathed about elementary school, and more specifically, the 2nd through 4th grade, was that every teacher stressed how in high school and middle school the only writing allowed is cursive. That, as we all learned, was a huge lie. I didn’t use cursive once in high school and some college professors won’t accept cursive on assignments. All this, coupled with the fact that so many American households have computers and printers available to them, go to show that cursive is barbaric and nonsensical. In short: Stop being so lazy and lift your pen off the paper every now and then butthead!
