Maybe my views are skewed on the subject of customer service. I say this because I used to work at Savemart, which was my favorite job ever, where we were open from 6am to 12am every day. Most holidays we were open all day as well and with the exception of Christmas, we were always open till at least 7pm on holidays. You can understand that I would be upset when, today around 2:15, I was emotionally defeated when any and all banks, as well as the Post Office, were closed already.

I think the problem I have with this is that it would make complete sense for a bank to be open on the weekend. People are out shopping; they need money; why not make their money available to them.

I know ATM machines are there at most, if not all, banks, but nothing can replace the customer service that comes from interacting with a real-life teller.

What I think needs to happen, and one day it probably will, is for one chain of banks (my bet is WaMu) to decide to start running regular hours on the weekend. Then, due to competitiveness amongst competing businesses, all the banks would have to do it just to keep up.

Until then, I will just have to keep to myself and curse this industry in private.
