Sacramento-This is Basketball Town

I posted this about a year ago but just wanted to revisit it as news swirls about the Kings leaving for Anaheim. It is a wonderful article that describes, in brief, the greatness of Sacramento as a basketball town.

I would pose to you all this question:

Would the city of Anaheim ever turn a player like Tyus Edney into a golden god in their city the way Sacramento did in ‘95?

How about Marcus Pollard? Corliss Williamson? Mateen Cleaves?

No. The Kings will be a sideshow in Anaheim. They’ll find some Disney character to name the team after.

And Sacramento will be stuck rooting for the Mountain Lions.
