It is bad enough that at a College of over 22,000 students, only 1,100 showed up to vote on the potential IRA fee increase this semester.  Now the administration has decided to do it anyway.

It was announced earlier this week that CSU, Fresno President John Welty has decided to continue with the IRA fee increase.  An increase that (some)students voted against.

I am glad (sarcasm) that we spent time writing about and discussing the fee increase only to eventually have our voice muted.  It just goes to show that this administration has not a shred of concern for the students’ needs. 

What do we need?

Parking Structure- A single, normal parking stall costs about $1000 to create.  The new covered stalls, $3000.  A single stall in a multi-level parking structure costs around $10,000.  Therefor, the administration feels that it is too expensive to build.  How about we don’t waste money building a $90 million Library that people only use to sleep in.

Lower Fees- Most students don’t realize what a large portion of their fees are going towards.  If you don’t use the Rec. Center, you should start, you pay for it every semester.  If you don’t use the Health Center on campus, you should start, you pay about $90+ on it every semester.  Hell, I payed $106 this semester for the University Student Union.  The very USU that I can never find an open seat in because people use the couches in there to sleep on throughout the day.  The very USU that consistently brings the shittiest of the shittiest of bands to The Pit.

All in all, what you should take from this is that we, the students who care about the University and its students, were slapped in the face.
