Dance Gavin Dance
I purchased the new Dance Gavin Dance CD, Happiness, at Rockin Roots on June 7th. It has not left my car’s CD player since then. It is safe to say that I love DGD.
It is very rare that you get a CD nowadays and listen to it non-stop. Withthe quickness and ease of file sharing and music torrents and so many other ways to acquire music nowadays, I often find myself jumping from band to band daily but this album changed that for a solid month.
With only 10 songs, I have listened to the whole thing probably about 50 times and can’t fight singing them at the top of my lungs.
One thing I have noticed about the band is it’s distinct bi-polarity in their songs. Like many successfull bands in todays rock scene, DGD has a singer(Kurt Travis) and a screamer(Will Swan). After some examination I noticed that the lyrics sung by the two of them was vastly different in an almost comical proportion.
Here is the reason I created this post, to display some of the actual lyrics, not altered in any way and in the actual order they are sung. The regular font is Travis’ singing and the bold font is Swan’s screaming. Enjoy.
Song (Album)
Carl Barker (Happiness)
You’d always say we’ll win the lottery someday
So I wouldn’t have to go away
I should have known that I’d had it all along
But I didn’t know til’ you were gone
(Let’s see you function now)
(Touch your nose, jump around)
(Forklifts they go in trucks)
(Jeeze you just made this tough)
(Pick up the typo trash)
(Who brought those cups and plates?)
(What do celebrities do?)
(Dancing without a clue)
(Drinking their life away)
(Gamble with everyday)
